Irthlingborough

Irthlingborough is the town in which I live and have lived for most of my life. Its not a very interesting place to live, but I feel that I must bore you with the grizzly details.

Irthlingborough is a very old town dating back centuries. Lots and lots of them. It is a shockingly busy town with an unpleasant amount of traffic passing through each day.

Recently Irthlingborough Diamonds football* team was in the fortunate position of being purchased by Mr Griggs. Griggs Ltd make the Dr Marten's shoes. The team itself was not a very good team and the ground was basically just a patch of grass with a shed for changing rooms. I cannot even remember which league they were in but you can be certain that it was a very low one. Also he purchased the Rushden football team. He then merged the two teams to create Rushden & Diamonds F.C. The grass field is gone now and in its place is a 15 Million pound football stadium. It can currently hold around 6000 people and is expanding all the time. The facilities there are magnificent to say the least. Some of the Premiership sides don't have facilities as good as these. As the team progresses through the leagues the stadium is upgraded and improved. Plans for cinemas etc are already in the pipeline.

As for the team well at the end of last season they came close to being promoted from the GM Vauxhall Conference, into the football league. The Conference is the league just below the main football league. This season has been a good one.  The team finished fourth in the conference, not bad!

The halls in the stadium grounds is also used for the European Snooker Championships. Which is broadcast on satellite TV over here. I don't know if you get the snooker in America. It is a very boring sport to watch (bit like baseball really) the only reason that we watch it over here is because it is important to do so. Its also great to watch of a quiet afternoon with a lot of beer. Same thing with cricket.
